Make Up Revolution vs Charlotte Tilbury concealer

edf

Hello,

a quick one today. I decided to try both the Makeup Revolution conceal and define and the Charlotte Tilbury The retoucher and see which one I liked the most.( Shape and define retails for £4 and is available at Superdrug, The Retoucher for £25 and is available on line and at most Department stores in the U.K)bf

I applied them a few hours ago to give them time to settle and I did not use any powder to set them as powder on my skin tends to accentuate my line!

I  am wearing the Makeup revolution on the right side and The Retoucher on the left side.

IMPRESSIONS:  Shape and Define offers better coverage but dries quicker and I found it a little harder to blend. The retoucher is way creamier but provides a minimum amount of coverage. In terms of settling into fine lines, they both do a pretty good job.As far as the eye area is concerned I think the texture of The Retoucher is more suited as it blends like a dream. As an overall concealer and spot treatment Shape and Define wins hand down since the coverage is great without ever being cakey. When it comes to longevity, again, Shape and Define wins in my eyes.

CONCLUSION:  If you are looking for a great coverage concealer that is pocket-friendly and super versatile then Shape and Define is for you.If the eye area is your main concern and you prefer creamy, hydrating textures with a slight sheen to it then The Retoucher is your friend.

Perricone MD Face firming activator

edf

Hello lovely people,

I hope everyone is doing fine on this cold Tuesday morning…

I want to thank anyone who has been visiting my blog over the past ten days since the launch, I really appreciate it and I hope you are enjoying it.

Skincare is the air I breathe, and I am always on the outlook for something new, exciting or simply that works. I have been a fan of Perricone MD for years, I love most of his formulations and his approach to diet as a crucial part of skin health.

Face firming activator is one of their most iconic products ( it used to be called Formula 15 years ago and was reformulated in 2015 to make it even more powerful)

So let’s get to it

WHAT IS IT: a daily treatment to help smooth out fine lines, as well as deep wrinkles while improving the overall texture and luminosity of the skin. I would advise to use it no more than once a day and if used during daytime SPF is a must.

WHAT’S IN IT DMEA, This ingredient is a nutrient that occurs naturally in our brain(found also in sardines and salmon), in small amounts, and facilitates the synthesis of acetylcholine. Used topically it’s been shown to help specifically with sagging and loss of firmness.Alpha Lipoic Acid: a very powerful antioxidant that specifically targets and improves skin texture and lines.Glycolic acid: most effective for treating fine lines, acne, blackheads, dullness, oiliness and uneven texture. Dead skin cells are sloughed off revealing smoother, brighter, younger-looking skin.

HOW TO USE IT  once a day on perfectly cleansed face and neck. follow with moisturizer and SPF.

WHO IS IT FOR anyone concerned with sagging, loss of firmness and elasticity, fine lines and dull skin. Thanks to glycolic and alpha lipoic acid, this treatment could benefit

also blemish prone or clogged skin types.

MY OPINION this product works very well on my skin. My pores shrink when using it and I  definitely noticed a reduction of my fine lines especially on my forehead.I use it in the morning after I cleanse and I follow with my moisturizer.

If you are looking for a product that really delivers, look no further…you will see results pretty quickly.

Face firming activator retails for £95 for 59ml(twice the size of standard serums)

YSL Youth liberator serum foundation

Hello gorgeous people,

let’s talk about makeup today, in particular about foundations. I am a guy and I regularly use foundation to even out my skin tone and to give me a healthy, dewy finish.

YSL youth liberator serum foundation is the company’s first serum foundation ‘ to be infused with the unique Glycanactif complex’. In terms of anti-aging benefits, let’s cut straight to the chase: I did not notice any! But this is not the reason why I purchased this foundation in the first place: I was attracted by its lightweight yet buildable coverage( to a medium coverage max, not full as stated on the YSL website) but above all its incredible luminosity and spreadability.

This foundation glides on the skin like a dream , , dewy and leaving your skin radiant and very luminous( hence why I would not recommend this foundation to very oily skin types or to anyone looking for a full coverage foundation).

The color range is pretty impressive and the colors are divided in D(golden undertones) and (pink undertones). The shade range goes from light to deep. For reference, I use  BD50 which is a golden beige.

In terms of longevity, this is probably not the longest wearing foundation but it does not claim to be. It does last 9 hours on me with no issues.

It retails for £43, so not the cheapest but a bottle lasts me easily 3 months.

Just a quick note: Last year, while visiting the YSL counter in Harrods, I was told the foundation was being discontinued and only a few colors were still left. Upon checking now on Ysl website all the colors seems to be in stock.

I attached a couple of close-ups

of me wearing this foundation.

WHO IS IT FOR anyone looking for a natural looking foundation, with a luminous finish.Best suited for people with combo/normal/dry/mature skin.

Let me know if you love or loathe this foundation: I adore it.

Alex

WHAT IS IN IT  2% salicylic acid and some pretty good antioxidants from grape seed extract and green tea.

WHO IS IT FOR  blemish-prone skin,post-shave rashes, occasional breakouts, clogged pores, dull and uneven skin, ingrown hairs.

Kate Somerville Exfolikate

Hello beautiful people,

the sun is shining today in London, I am in a great mood and I want to share with you one of my all-time favorite exfoliating treatments: Exfolikate by Kate Somerville.

Kate Somerville is a celebrity cosmetic doctor based in L.A. and has made quite a name for herself for offering some great products. Her skincare line is pretty extensive and I haven’t explored all of it since some of the products are pretty pricey. Bare in mind Kate Somerville is not stocked in the U.K. currently ( it used to be sold in SpaceNK)so eBay, Amazon or other online retailers are your best bet to get your hands on her products.

Exfolikate is an exfoliating mask that can help retexturise the skin, shrink pores and brighten the skin. It’s fantastic before a night out or a big event.

WHAT’S IN IT : lactic acid, salicylic acid, vitamin a, papaya and pineapple enzymes and aloe vera. A powerful combination of acids and fruit enzymes in a correct ph to allow for great exfoliation.

WHO IS IT FOR anyone with dull or lackluster skin who wants to brighten and illuminate the complexion. Not suitable for very sensitive skins.

HOW TO USE IT  cleanse your skin, apply a thin layer massaging for 30 seconds and leave on the skin for no more than 2 or 3 minutes. This mask is pretty intense so go easy to avoid any irritation. Avoid the eye area. Wash off and follow with your normal routine.

You can purchase it at https://www.cultbeauty.co.uk/kate-somerville-exfoli-kate-intensive-exfoliating-treatment.html.

You can also find some good deal on eBay(rrp is £72).

So there you have it, I am going to do my mask now and ill post a pic of the Exfolikate Glow.

NuFace Trinity

Hello precious drops of honey that sweeten my days,

today I want to share with you a device which is so amazing and multipurpose, you have to have it.

Nuface Trinity is a device which uses microcurrent to tone and firm the skin.Microcurrent has been around for ages and it has been shown to improve the overall appearance and firmness of the skin, so it is a great ally in our battle against aging,.

Microcurrent is a low level of electricity that mirrors the body’s own natural electrical currents, triggering chemical reactions at a cellular level to enhance the production of natural collagen and elastin, provide circulatory benefits, and re-educate the muscles of the face.

with just 5 minutes a day of use, you can have great benefits, even though I would advise you to use it for at least 15mins.You can tone up the jaw area, the cheek area, the forehead and now this device has been FDA cleared for use on the neck as well.

In the video below I will quickly show how to use it to get best results.

The device retails for £300, the box you also get a conduction gel( without a conducting gel the microcurrent won’t work, but you can use a simple aloe vera gel instead of the branded one)and the microcurrent head. Separately you can purchase two different attachments: Wrinkle reducer(a red light to plump up lines and wrinkles) and Elle( a smaller microcurrent head designed to be used around the eye and lip area). They both retail for around £135.

WHAT IS IT:  a microcurrent device aimed at firming the skin and improving collagen production. A 5-minute facelift!

WHO IS IT FOR anyone concerned with sagging skin, loss of elasticity and visible lines who wants an immediate as well as long-term effect.

You can get it at https://www.mynuface.com/.

I have been using mine for over a month now and it definitely works, consistency is key here though so you really have to commit to it.No pain no gain! I like to focus on my eyebrow area and my cheekbone and I normally use it for 5 minutes a day.

I hope you enjoyed.

Love,

Alex

Sampar 3 day-weekend 27/7

Hello beautiful people!

Since the sun seems like an old memory, I decided to show you one of my little hidden gems to illuminate your complexion (without self-tanners): Sampar 3-day weekend.

Sampar is a French brand, not particularly well known in the U.K. that offers a few interesting products, this one being one of them.(http://www.sampar.com).

WHAT IS IT: a lightweight gel for everyday use designed to provide all-day hydration and increase melanin production hence providing a subtle glow over the course of 2 or 3 days of use.

WHAT’S IN IT: Cimicifuga racemosa Extract, Native American medicinal root that naturally stimulates the synthesis of cutaneous melanin.Promelanotrope Peptides boost skin melanin synthesis.Hydrocomplex repairs and reinforces the skin’s hydrolipidic film in order to retain moisturization and maintain elasticity and suppleness. Paraben free.

WHO IS IT FOR: Anyone looking for a subtle glow, who does not want to use self-tanners.This a little gem of a product, which over the years I have recommended to several people (Alessandra this is a shout out to you!).If used continuously for a few days it provides a nice glow to the skin without any yellow or orange hue.It works great under makeup. If you are oily or combo, this is perfect as your everyday moisturizer, if you are dry or normal you might want to add a nice oily serum underneath.

Bear in mind the intensity of the color will depend on your own skin ability to produce melanin and will vary from person to person: do not expect s St Tropez kind of effect. This is more of a healthy glow, fresh look.

It retails for £34 on Amazon (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sampar-Essentials-Day-Weekend-50/dp/B00AGORZ6C).

At the moment you can find it on TKmaxx for £7.99(https://www.tkmaxx.com/uk/en/women/beauty/skincare/moisturisers+day-creams/three-day-weekend-tan-prolonger-50ml/p/42064437), so if you are into it hurry up! I got myself a few of those to stock up.

Darphin 8-flower nectar

Hello skincare junkies,

London today is looking gloomy and rainy so I wanted to uplift you all with a product that my skin and my nose love: Darphin 8-flower nectar.

I have to be honest here, I am not a big fan of the so-called ‘natural’ skincare brands as  I often find too many essential oils or plant extracts tend to either irritate my skin or do nothing at all. So I was a little bit skeptical when I purchased this elixir but the reviews seemed great so I thought I would give it a try, even though the price is quite up there as it retails for £98.

This is a night-time face treatment infused with 8 different essential oils: iris, jasmine, lavender, neroli, patchouli, rose, ylang-ylang and everlasting. They work in synergy to improve hydration, elasticity and fine lines.

I have been using it for several weeks now, alternating it with my Dr. Sebagh rose de vie serum, and my skin just adores this oil and the smell is intoxication( Darphin recommends taking a few drops on your hands, breathing in the aroma and then applying it on the face)…I look forward to my evening routine just to breathe it in.

In terms of hydration, this oil is very nourishing, non-comedogenic and of 99% natural origin(whatever that means).I sometimes add one drop to my foundation to give my skin that beautiful dewy effect and it does work wonders.

Bear in mind this oil contains lavender which can be problematic for some skin types. If you have normal to dry skin and are concerned with dryness, lackluster skin, fine lines and want an overall glow I bet you will love this product.

Let me know in the comments below your thoughts and experience with the 8-flower nectar.

Paula’s choice clinical 1% retinol treatment

Hello skincare junkies!!

I hope you are all well on this gloomy Monday afternoon.

Today I want to share with you one of my all-time favorite products: Paula’s choice 1% retinol treatment, which I have been using on and off for over 2 years.

First of all, let’s get a few things out of the way :

1- Retinol is, in the simplest sense, an antioxidant derivative of vitamin A. The powerful ingredient speeds up cell turnover for existing skin damage, and cleverly interrupts the free-radical damage process – from the environment, and general aging – to prevent the likes of wrinkles and spots from forming.

2- Retinol might not be for everyone and caution needs to be used when starting this product

3- Only use Retinol at night, starting with 2 or 3 times a week, and always wear Spf 30 or higher during daytime.

4- 1% is the highest concentration you can get without a prescription.

Now, Paula’s choice offers a variety of retinol products but I find this one to be the most effective.

It has the consistency of a lightweight cream and spreads very easily, it is mostly aimed at people with brown spots, acne scarring, discoloration or deep set of lines. She recommends using it a few nights a week to begin with and then gradually increasing to skin tolerance( being the skincare junkie I am , I didn’t follow her advice and used it every day for a week resulting in a very big and sore dry patch around my cheek area!ouch).

After a few weeks of use, I noticed my pores were significantly smaller and my skin looked very luminous, also my pigmentation around my orbital bone was reduced. As for fine lines, I didn’t notice a massive improvement, though.

I find this product works best when applied on dry skin at night and used up to 4 times a week, at least this works best for me ( normal to dry skin, not particularly sensitive).

What is great about this product is that it contains several peptides to stimulate collagen production and licorice root extract to lessen pigmentation.

It retails for £53 and it is available at https://www.paulaschoice.co.uk.

I ‘ll attach a picture of my skin that I  took last evening after applying the 1% retinol and the Dr. Perricone Face finishing moisturizer.
