Dr Sebagh deep exfoliating mask

Hello everyone,

I want to share with you one of my all-time favorites, tried and tested products: Dr. Sebagh deep exfoliating mask.

If you are from the States, you are probably familiar with Dr. Sebagh for his skincare collaboration with Cindy Crawford, if you are in the U.K. you might have heard of him as ‘ The king of botox’ and because of his skincare line. His very ‘ doctor-like’ skincare range offers several hero products, such as ‘Serum Repair’  and ‘ Pure vitamin C powder cream’ which are often awarded beauty editors ‘ prizes.

Deep exfoliating mask has been a part of my beauty cabinet and regimen for several years, and even though I  like to try new and exciting products I always seem to go back to this product whenever I am in need of a great exfoliation or I need my skin to look brighter and tighter.

WHAT IS IT  an A.H.A. exfoliator for normal/oily/combo/dry and problematic skin (not for very sensitive skin I am afraid, but they do offer a specific sensitive formula ) designed to slough off dead skin cells, tighten pores, brighten and revitalize skin.

WHAT IS IN IT  18 percent Lactic acid and 1.8 percent Azelaic acid. Lactic acid will help to deeply exfoliate skin to reveal a brighter complexion while the azelaic acid will help with stubborn pigmentation and acne scarring.

HOW TO USE IT  twice weekly apply a thin layer over face and neck avoiding the eye area and rinse after 5 to 10 minutes. This is a pretty intense mask and you definitely need to build your tolerance to it or you will experience lots of redness. If you are not used to exfoliants please start with 3/4 minutes and gradually build up to 10. Always wear SPF the next day.Over the years I managed to increase my tolerance to it and I can keep the mask for 30 minutes but you have not heard that for me( i am not advising you to keep it for 30 minutes just sharing my personal experience).

The mask retails for £59 for a 50 ml jar which makes it neither cheap nor super expensive. If you are, like me, crazy about exoliation( hopefully I will have some skin left in the next few years 🙂 )or simply looking to step up your skincare game or you are maybe trying to get rid of stubborn acne scarring I highly recommend this product.

Let me know your thoughts or if you have another great exfoliator I could review. Also follow my Instagram page www.instagram./alexinwonderland81.

The best eye cream yet?( for me at least…)

Hello skincare junkies,

in my land of sleepless nights, overworn contact lenses and depleting collagen, I am always looking for an eye cream that can make me look like I had 10 hours sleep, that can erase any signs of fatigue, wrinkles, tears of joy and sadness and that can pretty much make me look 15 again! The amount of money I spent over the years in the search is embarrassing but I might, i say ‘might’, have found the best eye cream yet!

SKINPEP is a small company I talked about before on my Instagram account and they offer a couple of eye creams and the one I am talking about is called ‘ dark circle eraser eye cream’:

I ordered it about a couple of months ago and I have been hooked ever since. It has a lightweight yet very hydrating feel to it, it comes out with a kind og goldish tone that helps to minimise dark circles immediatly but what really sold me was the ingredient list that i have to share with you:Matrixyl, Fibroblast Growth Factor, Transforming Growth Factor, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, MAP, Ascorbic Acid, Aloe Vera Ext, Niacinamide, Witch Hazel Ext, Panthenol, CO-Q10, Green Tea Ext, Algae Ext, Vit E, Red Ginseng Ext, Ginkgo Biloba Ext, Grape Seed Ext, Resveratrol, Adenosine, Retinol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Cucumber Ext, Lecithin, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Ferulic Acid, Laminaria Ochroleuca Ext, Soybean Seed Ext, Shea Butter, Evening Primrose Oil, Jojoba Seed Oil, Allantoin, Chamomile Ext, Padina Pavonica Ext, (Wheat) Germ Oil, Rose Flower Ext, Willow Bark Ext, Geranium Maculatum Oil, Bisabolol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Dimethicone, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1, Dimethicone, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Ethylhexylglycerin, Stearic Acid, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Phenoxyethanol, Stearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Laureth-7, Laureth-23, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Chlorphenesin, VP/Eicosene Copolymer, Sodium Chloride, Disodium EDTA PEG-240/HDI Copolymer Bis Decyltetradeceth-20 Ether, Butylene Glycol, Cyclopentasiloxane.

Where to start: the first ingredient is Matrixyl(aka Palmitoyl pentapeptide-4) is the first ingredient and a very powerful peptide shown to be very effective in plumping up fine lines. the list is pretty impressive with ingredients such as niacinamide for brightening,re tinol for retexrurising,an tioxidants,om egas,so othing ingredients like allantoin,hy aluronic acid and collagen.

Science facts aside , this eye cream pucks a punch especially for the very reasonable price :£14.99, you can also order a 2ml sample from their website for £2.99.

It works beautifully under makeup and on its own but what really impressed me is that my dark circles and bags have significantly diminished since using it and I also love the immediate brightening and softening effect it gives.

If you are looking  for a good eye cream that does not cost the earth,th at is well formulated and effective then I highly recommed this one.Let me know if you tried it ,if you love it and generally what you think of it.

That’s all for now,

Foreo Luna 2 cleansing device

Hello beautiful people,

as you should know by now, I have a thing for skincare gadgets and beauty devices, so I thought I ‘d share my latest obsession: Foreo Luna 2.

Foreo is a Swedish brand launched in 2013 that has been experiencing incredible growth and success with their products. Their cleansing brushes made of medical grade silicone and emitting the T-sonic pulsations are their best-known product.Obviously, i had to try it, after reading so many rave reviews and watching youtube videos.I ordered mine on www.currentbody.com where there was a 20 percent off(who doesn’t like discounts) and paid £135 for a set which includes Luna 2, Luna play ( a tiny travel version of the original brush) and a set of two cleansers for day and night. What intrigued me was the fact that silicon grade material means never changing brush head( unlike Clarisonic) and the T-sonic pulsations which are supposed to lift and remove way more makeup, dirt and oil leaving your skin feeling clean and refreshed. Also to notice the Luna 2 has an ‘ anti-aging mode’ if you use the back side of the brush it emits lower pulsations and is designed to gently revitalize the skin( personally I thin the antiaging claim is a little far-fetched).

So let’s get to it: out of the box the brush looks like a thing of beauty, the silicon bristle are very soft, one charge lasts for six months use. I straight away applied the cleanser that came with it on my face, on top of my makeup, I wet the brush under the sink and I turned it on(you can choose between 12 different speeds). You then glide over your skin in circular motions, the brush beeps every 15 seconds to remind you to move area but I did not pay much attention to it as I find 15 seconds is not enough.Once you have gone over your entire face you just rinse it with lukewarm water and BOOM: you face is clean and super fresh feeling. As a test, I took a cotton pad to see if there was any makeup residue but there was none, which was fantastic.I then turned the brush on the other side to try the antiaging mode: it gently vibrates and you are supposed to press it against crow’s feet area, forehead, and nasolabial folds. Not sure how this works but at least it felt nice.

I can see myself loving this little cute device more and more as it is gentle enough for daily use and in around 2 minutes does a perfect job of removing makeup, gently exfoliating skin and prepping it for your potions and lotions. The Luna2 retails for around £169, which I know is not cheap, but you will never have to change heads and comes with a 2-year warranty.Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with Clarisonic in the past as it really irritated my skin and made me look worse rather than better so I was hesitant with this but I can guarantee it is AMAZING.They also make a smaller version the Luna Mini which is a little cheaper but I personally prefer a bigger one to go over my whole face.As a guy I also find the Luna 2 to be great at prepping my skin for shaving and reducing razor bumps.

So if you are looking to step up your cleansing game I highly recommend this brush, you can use whatever cleanser you like (balm, oil, gel, foaming etc) and every time it will give you great results and a super smooth and fresh skin.

You can get one here https://www.foreo.com/luna-2

Hope you enjoyed my review,

Cold sores and L-Lysine : an effective remedy?

Hello people,

the sky is gray, it’s cold outside and my lips are covered in cold sores: Yuck!

I have been having them several times a year since I was a kid and I have always felt very self-conscious of them. I tried patches, Zovirax,I tried not using anything and the result has always been the same: it would take about 10/12 days for them to completely go.

While browsing the internet a few months ago (during an outbreak) I came across an article suggesting the amino acid L-Lysine was very effective at preventing and reducing the healing time of cold sores.Within two minutes I had already placed an order on Amazon for next day delivery.I spent the rest of the day reading more about this amino acid and the alleged dosage to take and this is what I found:

For prevention 1000mg a day every day in individuals prone to several outbreaks a year

For treating an outbreak: up to 4000mg a day.

Well, let me tell you I was pleasantly surprised. I am no doctor, so  I cannot give you the medical reason why, but this treatment does work!

I felt a tingling in my lips two days ago(fellow cold sores sufferers know what I am talking about)so straight away I popped 4000mg of Lysine and same the next day. It’s day three and my cold sore has already scabbed and it’s dried out, reducing notably the healing time.I am impressed.

I will link the brand I bought, a very cheap one to be honest as I was not sure it would work or not.Let me know if you have any other advice or effective treatments.Don’t forget to subscribe to my youtube channel as well(link in my homepage).

Let’s talk supplements

Hello beautiful people,

I hope everyone is feeling amazing. I wanted to briefly dip into the controversial topic of supplements today. First of all, as a disclaimer, I am no doctor so these are my personal views based on my personal experience: what works for me might not work for you.Another little piece of information: I suffer from generalized anxiety disorder and IBS so the supplements I am taking today are in part linked to these two issues.

The world is supplements is a very confusing and, at times, scary one, you can find supplements that promise to banish wrinkles, to make your hair grow, to give you the eyes of a tiger and to let you become a porn star for a night. I have in the past fallen into that trap and started taking dozens of pills in the hope of magically curing both my anxiety and IBS and to also give me supermodel skin. That did not quite work out for me so I started to educate myself a bit more and decided that more does not equate better and that diet is the most important step. These are the supplements I am currently  taking that I feel confident in recommending to you:

1- Whole food state multivitamin (for better absorption) if your diet is not perfect or if you feel you need a bit of a boost. Please try and steer clear of synthetic vitamins if possible.

2- Omega 3 fish oil (anti-inflammatory, heart, blood pressure, arthritis, skin, mental health, brain and eye development.) I also find that, if taken at night, these help me sleep better. The one I chose is not cheap but is one of the highest strength and purest form I could find .The smaller the fish it is derived from the better. One 5ml teaspoon a day is all you need.

3- Curcumin capsules (amazing anti-inflammatory and also great for arthritis or joint pain). I take one a day in the morning with breakfast.

4- Magnesium glycinate ( i stress ‘ glycinate’ as normal cheap magnesium tablets will have a laxative effect if taken at high doses) THIS IS MY BEST ADVICE FOR ANYONE SUFFERING from MILD ANXIETY AND MILD INSOMNIA. 400 mg before bedtime do the trick for me. Bear in mind these are not sleeping pills so please don’t expect miracles, but they did help me sleep better or at least deeper for longer.

There you have it, this is what I have now been taking for several months with good results, again what works for me might not work for you but it’s food for thought. I am going to link down below the exact products I am using, but feel free to research and explore and look for alternatives.

Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Liquid Glow extreme 6%

Hello skincare junkies,

Today’s post is about a glycolic toner from the brand Nip+Fab( younger sister of the more expensive brand Rodial).I want to be honest and let you know I am not a huge fan of either of these brands: I tried several products( snake mask, magic gel, dragon’s blood gel, pink diamond serum) and several hundred pounds later I do not belive they are as effective as they claim to be.Having said that, I recently stumbled upon this glycolic toner and I fell in love with it. I am all about exfoliation, my skin can tolerate acids very well and when I saw this toner offered a 6% glycolic I immediately bought it ( on offer for £14.99 at Superdrug).

Glycolic acid is part of the group of active compounds known as AHA’s (alpha hydroxy acids). Derived from cane sugar: It has the smallest molecules in the group so is able to penetrate skin deeply and easily, making it the most effective for treating fine lines, acne, blackheads, dullness, oiliness etc..The Highest concentration that you would find in an over the counter product is 10 %, so 6% is not too shabby. As a guy, I also find glycolic and salicylic acids are great at reducing razor bumps and shaving irritation.Whenever I use this toner my skin looks immediately brighter, pores appear smaller and over time I noticed my skin feels tighter and firmer too.Let’s get to it now:

WHAT IS IT: a toning solution, safe for use once or twice a day, designed to unclog pores, reveal brighter skin, reduce irritation and improve discoloration and pigmentation. If your skin is very sensitive, I would advise a patch test first and once a day use.

WHAT’S IN IT:  the hero ingredient here is glycolic acid,as discussed above, but the ingredient list offers some more surprises as we also have Hyaluronic acid for moisture retention, Allantoin for its great soothing and healing properties, Niacinamide (Vit B3)for its effectiveness at improving skin texture and discoloration  and Salicylic acid, which belongs to the BHA group, for its ability to unclog pores and reduce blackheads.Overall a very well formulated and effective toning treatment

WHO IS IT FOR anybody can benefit from this great product, especially problematic skin, individuals prone to pigmentation and acne scarring and anyone with dull looking skin.As mentioned above this is a great treatment for guys who suffer from shaving rashes.

The Glycolic fix liquid gold is available at nationwide NIP+FAB retailers, watch out as some of them are offering good discounts at the moment on this range.

UPDATE: nip+fab website now offering this toner at £9.95 https://www.nipandfab.com/skincare/glycolic-fix-liquid-glow

If you want me to try any other exfoliating treatment please let me know and I’ll look into it.

Snow proof skincare

Hello everyone,

I hope you are all doing well despite the snow. Speaking of, with this peculiar weather my skin has become increasingly drier and drier( I am usually normal to dry) and I thought I would share with you what I am using right now to keep it supple, hydrated, radiant and nourished.I will link al the products below and please let me know what you like and what you don’t.

First things first: let’s talk cleansers. I tend to prefer oils or balms and right now I am in love with the Elizabeth Arden Ceramide face cleaning oil , a luxurious oil that in contact with water turns into a milky emulsion and removes makeup and impurities, leaving the skin clean and supple, never dry. (https://www.elizabetharden.co.uk/elizabeth-arden-ceramide-cleansing-face-oil-195ml/11158027.html)

My second step is my face oil: I am addicted to face oils and I use them all year round( I sometimes add a drop or two to my foundation to give it that natural dewy finish), right now I am alternating Dr Sebagh Rose de vie serum ( a rosehip oil based dry oil) and the Yes To Blueberries face and neck oil(very different price points here, £129 vs £13).To be honest I like them both equally so whenever money is tight I go for the latter.I normally take 4 or g drops and pat them on my face and neck.(https://www.beautybay.com/skincare/yesto/blueberriesfaceneckoil/)

After my oil, in the morning I follow with Sampar 3-day weekend ( which I have previously reviewed) and Dr. Sebagh Sun city SPF30.In the evening I follow with Paula’s Choice Clinical 1% retinol.(https://www.paulaschoice.co.uk/clinical-retinol-treatment-m8010.html)

As far as an eye cream is concerned, even though I believe it’s not a necessity as a well-formulated face moisturizer can be used around the eyes too, I like to experiment with them and is probably the one item I change more often. Right now I am using Dr. Perrcone firming eye cream. (://www.perriconemd.com/skincare/anti-aging-eye-treatments/hypoallergenic-firming-eye-cream-MP0034.html)

There you have it, my routine for these crazy cold days. Hope you like it.
